| 1. Power on the Xbox with no disc in the tray. Note: Older Xboxes may not have Xbox Live enabled. You must insert your Xbox Live DVD to enable networking. | |
| 2. From the Xbox Dashboard, select Settings. Then select Network Settings. | |
| 3. In the lower right corner of the screen will be "MAC=" followed by a combination of 12 numbers and letters (see below). Write this down as you will need this to complete the Manual Registration form. | |
4. While in the Network Settings menu, choose IP Address. Make sure your console is set to Automatic for Configuration. |

| 5. Click here to register. You will need to use your MyUNIverse login and accept the ResNet policy. Once there you will need to enter the MAC address you wrote down. Under "reason for registration," type in that you are registering an Xbox. Once all the information is completed it will be sent for approval. | |
| 6. Once approved (usually within a day), go back into the the Settings menu and then into Network Settings. Scroll down and choose the Connect button. This will open a diagnostic menu pictured to the right that verifies that a connection can be made to the Xbox Live service. | |
