Find Your Computer's MAC Address

Note: Your computer may contain a wireless network card as well as a wired network card, or contain multiple network cards. When looking for the computer's MAC address, be sure to find the MAC address associated with the wired network card you wish to use.

Windows 2000/XP

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Run…
3. Type in cmd and press Enter
4. Type getmac/v and press Enter
5. Find the first line that says Local Area Conn. The MAC address is listed on that line below the Physical Address header.

Note: If getmac/v does not work, type ipconfig/all and find the line that says Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection (not Wireless) and write down the Physical Address.

XP MAC

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Run…

1. From the Apple Menu, select System Preferences
2. Click on Network
3. Set the drop-down box labeled Show: to Built-in Ethernet

4. Click on the Ethernet tab that appears on the right
5. Ethernet ID shows the MAC address

MAC OS X.5 (Leopard) or Newer

1. From the Apple Menu, select System Preferences
2. Click on Network
3. Click on
Ethernet on the left and click Advanced.
4. Click on the Ethernet tab that appears on the right
5. Ethernet ID shows the MAC address
